GPS ENG: REVELATION THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT

There are different ways to acquire knowledge. For example, learning through visual or auditory methods, hands-on experiences, experimentation, workshops, reading, and writing. However, there is one way that surpasses all the others: REVELATION. Revelation allows us not only to understand things that happen in the natural world but also what takes place in the spiritual realm.

What is REVELATION?

In Greek, the word is APOCALYPSE (Apokalypsis). It is the act and effect of removing the veil that covers what is unknown. This knowledge is brought through the Holy Spirit, who operates within the Ekklesia (the Church).

LET US READ 1 Corinthians 2:8–12

“None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written:

‘What no eye has seen,

what no ear has heard,

and what no human mind has conceived’—

the things God has prepared for those who love Him.

These are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.”

Discussion Questions

  • For whom is the wisdom from above hidden?

  • What do we have access to through the Holy Spirit?

  • To whom did God reveal His wisdom and mysteries?

  • Through whom do we receive this revelation?

  • What is the way to truly know God?

CONCLUSION

Only God Himself can reveal to us, through His Spirit, the mysteries of His being and His works. He does this through His Word, His Body (the Church), and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

MEMORY VERSE

“And we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.”

1 Corinthians 2:12
