Welcome to A Living Faith!
Over the coming weeks, we will journey together through the Book of James, a brief yet deeply practical letter that challenges us to live out an authentic faith. James reminds us that following Jesus is about much more than just knowing the Bible; it is about allowing God’s Word to transform the way we think, speak, love, and live each day. Our desire for this season is not merely to gain more knowledge, but to learn how to study the Bible together and let God transform our hearts through His Word. We believe the Holy Spirit is still speaking today through the Scriptures, and we are praying that every gathering becomes an opportunity to grow closer to Him.
Each week, we will meet in our small groups to read a passage from the Book of James, carefully observe what it says, discover together what God wants to teach us, and respond with a life of obedience. Each session will include that week’s study, a truth to memorize, and the verse from James 1:22 that will guide us throughout this season. Our goal is for what we learn not to stay within our meetings, but to transform our lives. We want our groups to be places where everyone can participate, ask questions, share openly, and encourage one another to follow Jesus. You don’t need to be a Bible expert; you simply need a heart willing to learn.
Before we begin, we want to let you know that the first study will be a little different from the others. We will start by watching a video that helps us understand the context and purpose of the Book of James before diving deeper into specific passages in the weeks that follow. Now, we invite you to turn the page and begin this journey with us. Our prayer is that, by the end of this study, you will not only know the Book of James better but also love God’s Word more and live it out every day.
Many Blessings,
Fernando & Leonor Del Castillo

Discovering the Context:
James was one of the leaders of the church in Jerusalem and also Jesus' half-brother (Matthew 13:55). At first, he did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah (John 7:5), but after seeing the risen Jesus, his life changed completely, and he became a leader recognized for his wisdom and faith.

Verse to Memorize:
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. - James 1:22
